This is part two of my link bait series. Last week I talked about what link bait is exactly and why it’s important that you try and create link bait content for your business. (REMINDER: It increases your SEO rankings and sends a flood of convertible traffic to your website or blog.)
This week I want to offer up some tips on how you can go about creating content that is so amazing, your readers will want to link to it and share it with all of their followers in the social media channels.
One of the most obvious ways to stand out from all of the noise online is to be completely original. This could mean you are the first to publish data that is really relevant and important for people. What data do you have that no one else has access to? What kind of research are you able to conduct that would make a really great blog post? Ask your own clients if you can interview them and see if you can’t find a common question or problem they have that no one else is addressing that you can address with your expertise.
Use Visuals Like Infographics
People love visuals and content that includes visuals tends to get a lot more attention and links than just plain text. Visuals are an easy and engaging way to get information across. People lead busy lives; they don’t always have the time or desire to read 700 words of text. But if you can create an infographic that quickly and creatively gets across some important information, you have a piece of content that stands out and will generate links and shares.
90% of information transmitted to the brain is visual, and visuals are processed 60,000X faster in the brain than text.
Viral Images and Videos
It doesn’t matter what industry you’re in, you can create the kind of images or videos that educate, engage and entertain your audience. For instance, let’s say you are a dentist and you want to really get the message out about how important flossing is. We’ve all heard this message – it’s not new – and yet in your daily practice you come across many, many people who still aren’t flossing. How do you get this message out in a new and creative way that people will pay attention to? Maybe you create a funny video about a tooth and section of gum that are in marriage counseling because they are separating. If only someone had flossed, their marriage wouldn’t be torn apart. You get the idea. No matter what your industry there are always creative ways you can use video to capture people’s attention.
So, your homework is, think of content you can create that is original and uses visuals and video to generate a lot of links, increase your SEO rankings, and drive traffic to your site that you can convert into leads and sales.
